01 / What this study contains

This is an invented educational case prepared on 16 October 2026. Every candle and price is constructed. BTC/USDT provides a familiar quotation format; the chart is not Binance history or a description of the current market.

The aim is to explain the decisions available before a hypothetical entry. Two possible outcomes are displayed separately. Neither is an actual trade, a backtest result or evidence of a strategy’s performance.

02 / Context: a range before the break

The first part of the model fluctuates roughly between 63,000 and 64,000 USDT. Repeated returns from the upper area make it a reference for this exercise. A single high would not establish a reliable level; the observation scale and repeated reactions matter.

A live study would also examine higher-timeframe candles, volume and scheduled events. Those inputs are absent here. We therefore make no claim about the daily trend, unusual volume, the cause of the move or the probability of success.

03 / Confirmation and conditional execution

An hourly candle closes above 64,000, price moves away and subsequently returns. During the retest the low reaches 63,820, followed by a close at 64,200. This model defines confirmation as a completed close back above the reference after the test, rather than any touch of the line.

The hypothetical 64,200 entry is considered only after the confirming candle has completed. Execution at that price on the next available tick is an assumption. If price runs away and acceptable execution is unavailable, the plan is skipped. A later, more expensive entry requires a fresh calculation.

04 / Stop and targets

The 63,600 stop is below the constructed retest low, with an extra buffer. This is a rule of the example, not a universally correct distance. Returning and holding inside the former range weakens the idea. If that happens before entry, the conditional plan is cancelled.

The entry-to-stop distance is 600 USDT per BTC. The 65,400 and 66,000 targets are 1,200 and 1,800 USDT away: gross ratios of 2R and 3R. They illustrate arithmetic and are not justified by historical resistance shown on this chart.

The calculator compares closing the whole position at TP1 with closing the whole position at TP2. Partial exits are not modelled. A 3R target says nothing by itself about expectancy: outcome frequencies, execution costs and consistent rules are still needed.

05 / Size follows the risk budget

An illustrative 1,000 USDT account and a 0.5% risk budget give 5 USDT. Dividing by the 600 USDT stop distance gives 0.00833333 BTC before costs. The calculator includes assumed fees and slippage on entry and exit, reducing the permitted quantity.

Notional position value and the amount at risk are different quantities. Leverage, funding, exchange lot increments and minimum orders are not modelled. Real venue constraints may make the calculated quantity unavailable.

Slippage remains an assumption. Gaps, illiquidity or technical failures may cause an actual loss above the estimate. The percentage is an exercise input, not a recommendation for an individual account.

POSITION SIZING / DEMO

Calculate the size, including costs

A hypothetical account, not a recommendation for your capital. Fee and slippage assumptions apply to each side of the trade.

Position0.00725205 BTC
Loss at the modelled stop5.00 USDT
Net result at TP1+8.04 USDT · 1.61R
Net result at TP2+12.39 USDT · 2.48R
Quantity is rounded down to 8 decimals for illustration. Exchange lot sizes, funding, minimum orders and gap risk are not modelled. Actual loss can exceed this estimate.

06 / Alternative outcomes

The continuation button adds invented candles moving toward the targets. Invalidation adds a return into the range and a move through the stop. Future candles are visibly separated from the original plan so they cannot be mistaken for information available before entry.

Without a completed confirmation there is no setup under these rules. If price re-enters the range before execution, the premise weakens. If execution has moved beyond the acceptable price, the original 2R and 3R calculations no longer apply.

07 / Record the decision process

Save a pre-decision chart, the confirmation rule, expected execution, invalidation conditions, the risk budget and cost assumptions. Afterward, record actual execution and whether the rules were followed. A correctly executed losing plan and a profitable rule violation deserve different conclusions.

This case demonstrates research presentation, not the effectiveness of Break & Retest. Evaluating a method requires consistent rules across many observations, every eligible outcome, realistic costs and separate data that was not used to tune the method.
